COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPACT COALITION WINS PRIZE
CHIC’s CEO and co-founder Dr. Madeleine Ballard and CHW Advocate Millicent Anyango Miruka accept the Schwab Foundation Award on behalf of Community Health Impact Coalition. This award is in recognition of our shared work solving complex problems that cannot be tackled by individual actors.
The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, announced today at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting its 2025 awardees, whose groundbreaking solutions are addressing urgent issues and driving systemic, positive change across the world.
“It is a great privilege to introduce the 2025 Schwab Foundation Awardees, a remarkable group of social entrepreneurs and innovators who embody integrity, humility and positive values in their work. Their extraordinary achievements reflect on the broader community of leading social entrepreneurs and innovators dedicated to fighting social inequalities and preserving natural ecosystems.”
Hilde Schwab, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship
The leaders from 15 organizations are values-driven entrepreneurs pioneering transformative business, social development and environmental models that are helping build a more equitable and sustainable world. At the Coalition we are honored to be among awardees addressing health disparities, creating income opportunities for displaced individuals, and improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
“Our world is grappling with instability, polarization and disenfranchisement while facing extreme, unpredictable weather events and disasters. It is also undergoing a radical transformation with both the green and digital transitions. Although this comes with economic opportunity, it also risks exacerbating existing inequalities or creating new ones. In the face of these significant challenges, the need for bold and innovative solutions has never been more pressing. The work of social entrepreneurs and innovators is not just important, it is essential.”
François Bonnici, Director of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship

The 80th United Nations General Assembly convened world leaders in New York City from September 17-27, 2025, during a pivotal moment for global health.
The Coalition was in attendance at World Health Assembly 76 advocating for the professional CHW (proCHW) movement.

New Coalition research finds most funders do not systematically track or report proCHW investments, making it challenging to assess global funding flows.
