CHW PROGRAMS & DATA

DATA AS A TOOL FOR CHW PROGRAMS.

Data plays a crucial role in the success of CHW programs. Data allows for the identification of health trends, monitoring of program outcomes, and allocation of resources where they are most needed. And it supports policy development, enabling CHWs to make informed decisions. Ultimately, good data improves service design and health equity.

But there are core gaps in our understanding of which data is most relevant to inform funders, policymakers, and CHW program managers. Together, we face challenges such as harmonizing indicators, ensuring data quality, and capturing the impact of investments beyond mortality and morbidity, working with CHWs in data collection and use, and in digital tools.

As a Coalition, we undertook a thorough overview of current data use within CHW programs from the perspectives of leading practitioners and academics, highlighting key thematic areas for future consideration.

INVESTING IN CHW DATA SYSTEMS: A GUIDE FOR FUNDERS.

Good data is the difference between developing world-class programs and leaving impact on the table.

Our CHW Data Dialogues podcast series brought together experts from around the world, providing real-world experiences and insights from those at the forefront of CHW programming and delivery.

Then, we built on these conversations at an in-person workshop of 35 experts! During this session we drafted a guideline for how data can be best utilized in CHW programs.

Now, we’ve collated all of that learning in one place! ‘Investing in Community Health Worker Data Systems: A Guide for Funders’ outlines key lessons and a comprehensive set of recommendations targeted at both funders of CHW work and grantees working with CHWs.
