Global Fund approves new proCHW metric.

Nyaya Health

Global Fund becomes the first major funder to commit to measuring and increasing the number of proCHWs across the globe.

We face barriers of fragmented and insufficient funding for community health. So international donors and funding bodies have a significant role to play. There’s a cost of complacency.

Global financing institutions can revise strategies, policies, and investments to eliminate the risk of exploiting unpaid labor to achieve program objectives.

Funders can prioritize professional CHWs (proCHWs) in revised strategies and loosen current policies prohibiting funds from being used for proCHW initiatives.

The Global Fund

In 2023 The Global Fund led by example when posting its 2023-2027 key performance indicators (page 63). For the first time ever they will report to the Board if the community health workers in the countries they fund are paid, supplied and supervised.

In other words: they become the first major funder to commit to measuring and increasing the number of proCHWs across the globe.

So does advocacy work?

If it’s done by Community Health Impact Coalition it does!

Together, we are making proCHWs, who are salaried, skilled, supplied and supervised the norm worldwide, so everyone can have access to quality healthcare.
