CHIC wins Skoll Award.

COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPACT COALITION WINS PRIZE

Skoll Award for Social Innovation 2025.

Community Health Impact Coalition was one of five organisations, recognised by the Skoll Foundation for “shared work advancing transformational social change to create a more sustainable, peaceful, and prosperous world for all.”

The 2025 Skoll Awards for Social Innovation Ceremony took place on 3 April 2025, ahead of the 22nd Skoll World Forum. CHIC’s CEO and co-founder Dr. Madeleine Ballard, and CHW Margaret Odera accepted the Skoll Foundation Award on behalf of Community Health Impact Coalition.

“We are living in a time of profound upheaval. When crisis strikes, social innovators run toward the problem to step in with solutions that address root causes. These leaders show us that the world may be fractured, but repair and lasting progress are possible when we work together across issues, sectors, geographies, and ideologies.”

Don Gips, CEO of the Skoll Foundation

The Skoll award recognizes organizations based on stringent criteria including: potential for change, ability to deliver, impact record, inflection point, and proximity & equity. The 2025 class of social innovators includes social entrepreneurs, movement builders, system orchestrators, and global coalitions driving collective action.

“People often say systems change is too messy, too complicated. But it’s not. Think LEGO. Small pieces, massive impact when connected. By unlocking the power of collective action, we can achieve breakthrough reforms at a scale that matches the size of our shared problems.”

Dr.Madeleine Ballard, CEO of CHIC

At the Coalition we are honored to be among awardees addressing health disparities, creating income opportunities for displaced individuals, and improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

“As global challenges multiply, the 2025 Skoll Awardees continue to meet the moment with determination, innovation, and optimism for our collective future. Whether it’s resourcing community health workers worldwide to enable lifesaving care, safeguarding the democratic rule of law, generating wealth through employee ownership, making sustainable and healthy homes accessible to all, or structuring school systems to keep students healthy—these social innovators are transforming our world.”

Marla Blow, president and COO of the Skoll Foundation

The award comes with a $2 million grant in unrestricted funding, that the Coalition will use to scale our work and increase our impact. Read more in The Economist.
